Restoring Mother's Handiwork
Entry #: TR 1784
Entrant: Elfrieda Snow
Dimensions: 23" x 23" Wall Quilt
Materials: Cotton and linen fabric.
Techniques: Free-motion embroidery, machine appliqué, couching, beading and domestic-machine quilting.
Artist’s Statement: My mother made this depression era pulled-thread linen cloth. I received it all tattered and torn. Today you see my handiwork in restoring this cherished piece using free-motion designs, couching and beading. Silk flowers were created by colouring ribbons to match the depression era.
