Gary's Quilt
Entry #: QP 1941
Entrant: Marlene Speed
Dimensions: 92" x 92" Bed Quilt
Materials: Cotton fabric, silk batting, glass beads and handmade piping.
Techniques: Machine piecing, selective beading and longarm quilting with a stitch regulator using a combination of hand-guided (primarily) and some computerized designs. Piped and flanged binding.
Credits: Inspired by Craftsy® block-of-the-month by Nancy McNally.
Artist’s Statement: For years my (very patient) husband asked for a Navajo-style quilt. Nancy McNally’s Craftsy® class became my jumping-off point. I changed many of the blocks, the colourway, the border and especially the Seminole patchwork design in the border to more accurately reflect the nature of a Navajo pattern.
