Entry #: QP 1830
Entrant: Karen Power
Dimensions: 48" x 59" Wall Quilt
Materials: Cotton fabric.
Techniques: Machine piecing and longarm quilting with a stitch regulator.
Credits: Commercial pattern, "Modern Sampler Quilt", by Yoshiko Jinzenji.
Artist’s Statement: My goal was to create a quilt with unusual fabric placement and minimal use of color. The challenge was to break away from a traditional symmetric approach but I tried not to overthink the process and went with my first instinct for fabric placement within the squares. The abundance of negative space gave me plenty of room to showcase geometric quilting which is so fun to design and implement.
