Artist’s Statement: This quilt is inspired by the immense beauty and colour contrast found when cutting a purple cabbage in half. Needle-turn appliqué was used to apply the entire cabbage as one piece to the white background. The quilting incorporates the Latin name, while making the cabbage pop from the densely-quilted background.
