Paris Art Deco
Entry #: M 2057
Entrant: Mary Dylke
Dimensions: 60" x 72" Wall Quilt
Materials: Print and solid cotton fabric, metallic linen, unknown fibre and metallic fabric.
Techniques: Fussy cutting, machine piecing and longarm quilting with a stitch regulator. Facing (not bound).
Credits: Photograph by Joseph Dylke.
Artist’s Statement: The inspiration for this quilt design is Art Deco era theatre signs. The 34 square-in-square blocks represent lights surrounding the sign. I love the subtle effect of the metallic fabric and the juxtaposition of the Art Deco piecing design with the fussy-cut steampunk-ish Eiffel Tower and balloons.
