Materials: Silk-cotton and cotton fabric, MistyFuse®, Angelina fibres, wool batting, fabric ink, oil paint-sticks and polyester thread.

Techniques: Fused, raw-edge appliqué. Multiple layers of ink and water to create background. Fabric sculpting for trees and branches. Longarm quilting with a stitch regulator.

Artist’s Statement: The reward for insomnia is a view of nature in the wintry, predawn hours. Streaks of colour appear near the horizon, while a sliver of moon still owns the sky. Bare branches stand in stark contrast to the fast-changing skyscape.
