Cherry Blossom Time - Triptych
Entry #: AL 1727
Entrant: Sandra Wald
Dimensions: 41" x 28"
Materials: Cotton fabric, 80/20 Hobbs® Heirloom batting, as well as cotton and metallic embroidery threads.
Techniques: Hand embroidery, hand quilting, hand appliqué. Tsukiniko® inks darken centres of the flowers and details before embroidering stamens. Embroidered with metallic thread.
Artist’s Statement: The cherry blossom branch begged to be represented as a triptych quilt. I wish I could include the perfume. I hope the viewer’s imagination can add the perfume as they walk down an imaginary street in Japan, enclosed on all sides, and over the top, by cherry blossoms.
