The Sunshine Coast Quilters’ Guild (which meets in Sechelt) hosted Hands Across the Water for nine other Quilt Guilds from Texada Island. They include Quadra Island, Powell River, Campbell River, Comox, Courtenay, Port Alberni and North Vancouver.

We chose a theme of “High SocieTea.” Guests were encouraged to wear hats or fascinators and gloves. Spot of Tea provided lunch, complete with lace tablecloths, china cups and saucers, plates, and tiered sandwich/cake plates. We adorned the tables with crazy quilt centrepieces and flowers.

We requested teapot quilt blocks; half were won by a draw and the others went to our Comfort Society to be made into a charity quilt. The Challenge Quilt theme was tea or “T.” Naturally, our entries had to have brown and yellow fabric, no larger than 30″x30″ and labeled.

Our Zoom guest speaker, Betsey Goodwin of Rocky Mountain Antique Quilts and Restoration, shared her years of experience sourcing out antique fabrics and doing quilt restorations. Four vendors attended and our guests took full advantage of the shopping opportunity. Overall, we had a fun day with all the participants.
