Luana RubinLuana Rubin is a leader in the textile industry, a quilting activist, and a philanthropist. She has worked in art, fashion, and textiles since the 1980s, and since 1999 has been the co-owner, with her husband Paul Rubin, of equilter.com. A portion of the company’s profits—more than $2-million to date—are donated to charities and non-profits. And those are just a few of her many accolades.

One of Luana’s favourite things to do is travel, in support of her charitable causes, but also to visit quilt exhibitions, and take photos of inspiring works from around the world.

Join us to see how quilters from different cultures use current events, art history, climate change, and pop culture as inspiration for unqiue works of art, and how the minimalism of Modern Quilting continues to expand and change as a design trend.

As a curator and juror, Luana organizes quilt exhibits, and also speaks to quilting groups about Art and Activism. With her experience as a textile designer, and her work with the Color Marketing Group for many years, you can expect a unique perspective on current colour trends and techniques, and valuable insight into future trends in quiltmaking.

Plus, she’ll have a special update from QuiltCon 2024, which just wrapped up in Raleigh, NC.

Be sure to have a notebook handy so you can jot down inspirational ideas for your 2024 quilt projects!
