Quilt Judge Certification Application

Application Process:

Fill out application form below and submit
Pay the $50 plus tax application fee through the provided link at the end of the form below
Email the following items to qjcp@canadianquilter.com within 1 week of your application being submitted.
- - Resume with an emphasis on quilting.
  - Biography (250 words).
  - Portfolio of 10-12 images of your work with written descriptions. Try to show a variety of styles.
  - Three (3) quilt-related references – please include professional relationship, name, e-mail
    address and telephone number.

Within three weeks of receipt of this completed form and all required documents, and receipt of payment, the applicant will be contacted to schedule an interview with the QJCP coordinators – Carole Gold and Bonnie Rankin. This interview will provide an opportunity to clarify information and answer questions that you or the coordinators may have.

The applicant will be notified within two days of the interview as to whether or not they have been accepted into the QJCP. The program syllabus will be supplied upon acceptance and receipt of payment for part 2.

PLEASE NOTE: As the 2026 QJCP is now a certification program instead of a teaching program, acceptance is not automatic nor guaranteed for people who were enrolled in the previous program.

Explain your background in colour & design. If listing classes, include instructor's name, title place and date(Required)

Describe three (3) judging room experiences within the past five (5) years, including one full-show shadowing experience with a certified judge. Remaining experiences may be as a judging room aide (e.g., scribe, fanner, holder, or reader). Eligible shows must include at least 50 quilts across three (3) or more categories.(Required)

5. Describe overall quilting knowledge and experience such as: acceptance into a juried/judged quilt show or exhibition; experience in the jurying of a quilt show or exhibition; attendee at workshops and lectures; attendance at quilt exhibitions or shows, museum exhibits or other quilt-related events.(Required)

6. Describe other guild/organizational experience (e.g. committees, board positions, volunteering, appraising, business ownership, etc.)(Required)

7. Outline any teaching/lecturing experience. Include dates and locations.(Required)

8. Are there areas in quilting/art where you could improve your skills or knowledge?(Required)

Once you click on the submit button, your application will be sent to the QJCP coordinators.

You will then be taken to the payment page for your nonrefundable application fee ($50 plus tax).

You will receive a confirmation email (after submitting your application) which contains a link to the payment page to make your payment if you have not already done so.
