Description of Presentation

Becoming Natural Born Quilter, My Journey in the World of Quilting

Relatively new to the world of quilting, having bought his first sewing machine in 2016, Brett has completed over 60 quilts, attended multiple International Quilt Markets, pattern tested for international-renowned designers, been featured on quilting podcasts, CBC Radio, and in international quilting magazines. He has created his own original quilt patterns and fabric designs, been featured in the 2022 Quilter’s Planner, and developed an Artist’s Palette thread collection with Wonderfil Specialty Threads. His debut fabric collection, Stag and Thistle, for Northcott Fabrics, launched in the fall of 2019, his second collection Prairie Meadow shipped in the fall of 2021, and his third collection Wild in the fall of 2022. Brett’s fourth collection Water’s Edge ships fall 2023. Brett will present via PowerPoint “Becoming Natural Born Quilter: My Journey in the World of Quilting,” talking about his quilting journey, marketing NBQ, inspiration for his fabric collections, and showcase an array of his favourite quilts. Concluded with a compressed trunk show with his favourite smaller projects and a Q and A session.

About Brett Lewis

Avid quilter and fabric designer, Brett Lewis, aka Natural Born Quilter, discovered his love of the craft through learning to sew and quilt in the spring of 2016. Fast forward seven years and over 60 quilts later, Brett has designed four fabric collections for Northcott Fabrics, showcasing his love for nature’s flora and fauna. Brett designs and instructs his very own EQ8 designed quilt patterns, with classes focusing on foundation paper piecing, fussy cutting, and curves. In his spare time he enjoys teaching his son to sew, caring for his backyard chickens, and dreaming up new fabric designs.
