The Parksville Quilt House Quilters Guild was founded in 1979, the first guild formed on Vancouver Island and the second oldest guild in British Columbia. It’s vibrant history and talented membership make it one of the most successful guilds in B.C. The mandate is to promote and encourage interest in the excellence of quilting. We have over 300 members!

Covid has not been easy, but our executive has been hard at work keeping us together through a variety of methods and activities. Zoom became our friend in 2020 as we embraced technology for sew days, meetings, retreats and programs. Who knew you could sew with your friends, connect with renowned quilt innovators or attend a meeting from your own safe space? We learned together as we went along, with more creative delivery ideas each time we gathered.

We have now started in person meetings under the provincial health guidelines. Our monthly sew days have resumed and future retreats are planned. As we slowly move forward, we resume more of the activities we love including:  comfort quilts; program presentations; workshops and monthly sew days.

We have also embraced social media for the benefit of our members with a guild Facebook page as well as a Quilthouse Quilters Buy’n Sell.

We have members who create award winning entries alongside those who are just beginning the journey. Hand stitchers, machine quilters and long armers are among our varied group of quilters. Our guild has something for everyone, a place to find kindred
spirits.
