“Honoring the Ladies”

After researching the life of Kentucky seamstress Martha Winchester, I honored her by creating my own homage to the ladies I hold dear in my life, showcasing each of them in a “controlled” crazy quilt – it links her life with mine in the poem. Enjoy the journey!!

Techniques and Materials

Hand pieced, Machine pieced, Hand appliqué, Hand Embroidery, Lace couching, beading, button work, silk ribbon work, inking with prick stitch work, puffed work, 3D embellishments, photographed fabric printed on velvet, controlled crazy quilting.

Cotton batting, silk, men’s ties, wool, cotton, silk ribbons, antique and vintage lace, mother of pearl buttons, glass buttons, vintage pins, hand dyed threads, chenille
Quilting
Hand-quilted.
