Are you ready for some modern curves?

CQA/ACC is starting a new Mystery Quilt project! The fun begins on September 6, 2021, with a list of fabric requirements and colour suggestions.

This year’s mystery quilt, designed by Cristina De Miranda of Ships & Violins, is inspired by Paeon, physician to the Greek gods. After daring to argue with his teacher, Paeon suffered the wrath of Zeus, who turned him into a Peony. (If you have to be a flower, that’s a lovely choice.)

The majority of this quilt is pieced using variations on a Drunkard’s Path block. Eleven different colours of fabric are used in a colourway of your choice. Because of the curved piecing and appliqué required, the pattern is recommended for intermediate level quilters, but would provide a great opportunity for less experienced quilters to experiment with curves.

You will love how this modern design progresses. The step-by-step, illustrated instructions will be provided in monthly installments, along with quarter-circle and arch templates. The finished size is approximately 100″ x 110″.

This members-only project can be accessed on our website in the Members Studio (simply search Mystery Quilt if you don’t see it in the latest posts). And you can follow along on Facebook on the CQA/ACC Mystery Quilt group page. Join the group now! All individual and professional members are welcome.
