About Linda Schmidt

Linda Schmidt loves quilting! She has been quilting for 22 years and has completed well over 300 quilts.

In 2007 she purchased a long arm machine to finish her own pieces and to quilt for others. It didn’t take long to build her clientele because her work on the long arm is spectacular.

Quilt Canada 2013 was a turning point in Linda’s  growth as a quilter.  She coordinated the National Juried Show where she learned about organizing a national quilt show and, most importantly, what judges look for in the highest caliber show quilts. What an experience having all those gorgeous quilts in her home before Quilt Canada!

At a long arm show in 2014 where Linda took a couple of classes from Angela Walters she began to appreciate the Modern quilt style.  Some of Angela’s samples inspired Linda’s first modern pieces.

Another major influence in Linda’s quilting life was working on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Quilters Association in the presidential chain.  In that capacity she discovered the business side of quilting, met quilters from across Canada as well as shop owners, managers of sewing machine companies and other equipment suppliers.

In 2016, after moving to Calgary from Penticton BC, Linda joined the Calgary MQG where she was excited and inspired by the monthly Show and Tell displays.  Now she inspires others and continues to be inspired by the wonderful work of friends and acquaintances.  Linda is excited to share some of her 300 quilts in person or virtually!
