WEBINAR: JANUARY 10, 2024 at 7 pm ET Liz Thompson explores ways you can use circles in your quilts, in ways you may not have seen before.  Tickets available now for both members ($10) and non-members ($15).

Sewing in circles can be a good thing! Not so much if you are lost in a forest or a desert, but in the quilting world circles have become very popular over the years.

Join Liz Thompson as she explores ways you can use circles in your quilts: some you might think of right away, some you may not yet have encountered on your sewing journey:

  • Thumb tack circles
  • Sewing circles a super accurate way with your sewing machine
  • Drunkards Path curves done in an unusual way
  • Garment sewing meets quilting for non-appliqué circles
  • and Liz’s absolute favourite method for perfect circles.

Enjoy a Powerpoint presentation with lots of pics and sewing machine demos to illustrate how “going in circles” can be a very good thing!

Liz has been sewing since the age of nine, when she started making clothes for her dolls. Her dream was to sew wedding dresses, which she eventually did.

Over the years her sewing passions have included smocking and heirloom sewing; appliqué and quilting; machine embroidery; garment sewing; bag making; and creating lingerie.

You will find Liz at her sewing machine almost everyday—her happiest place.

Liz was the coordinator for Quilt Canada for several years, and is currently a member of Boundary Bay Quilters Guild in Vancouver, BC.

Retired from a sewing career, Liz now teaches groups classes and offers free sewing clubs. Find out more at sewwithliz.com.

Liz will be teaching workshops at Quilt Canada 2024 in Edmonton, AB, June 20-22, 2024. More detail here.
