Royal City Quilters’ Guild (Guelph, ON)The Royal City Quilters’ Guild is preparing to celebrate a remarkable milestone—our 35th anniversary year in 2025–26! We’ll honour our rich history while offering innovative programming that fosters creativity, learning, and connection for quilters near and far.

Our flexible model of virtual and in-person activities ensures a satisfying experience no matter where our members live. Whether attending from Guelph or across North America, members can engage fully with our diverse offerings. Programming Highlights

The upcoming year features an exciting roster of speakers and workshops, including renowned artists Veruschka Zarate (winner of QuiltCon 2025), Becky Goldsmith (iconic designer and teacher), and Bethanne Nemesh (award-winning longarm quilter and quilt artist). Workshop participants will enjoy sessions with returning instructors Krista Moser (60-degree diamond ruler inspiration) and Melissa Marginet’s popular walking foot quilting class. Lynn Dyskstra joins us for the first time to share her scrappy inspiration. We also have presentations from Quilt Alliance, Quilters Hall of Fame and Ontario’s Mississippi Valley Textile Museum. Special interest groups—covering everything from art quilting, stash busting, mystery quilting and EQ8 design—allow members to dive deep into their favourite techniques and build lasting friendships.

Special Events Our 7th Annual Virtual Celebration of International Quilting Day will once again bring together hundreds of quilters for a full day of lectures, demos, and an inspiring virtual quilt show. This signature event continues to grow in scope and reputation each year. Back by popular demand, our Fall Retreat at Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp will offer members an immersive, five-day quilting getaway complete with sewing time, camaraderie, and creative rejuvenation. Community Outreach Our community outreach program remains a cornerstone of guild activity. We continue to create and donate quilts to local organizations supporting vulnerable populations. Projects like Quilts of Valour, Home for Good and St.  Joseph’s palliative care unit have allowed members to make a tangible difference while practicing their craft.

Find Your Place With so many ways to engage—monthly meetings, workshops, sew days, special interest groups, and charitable quilting—there’s truly something for everyone at Royal City Quilters’ Guild.
