Jan is a diverse textile artist who manipulates wax, rust, paint, dye, pigment, canvas, wool. rovings etc. to create original and distinct wall pieces. The majority of her wall hangings start with dyer's cotton and then are subjected to different mediums and processes and finally machine or hand pieced, hand quilted or free motion quilted. Jan is a member of the CQA, Settlers Village Quilter's, Victoria County studio tour, Fenelon Falls art gallery and teacher at the Haliburton School of Art and Design. She has over seventeen years of teaching experience at colleges and universities in Ontario and does workshops and retreats for schools, guilds, quilt stores and privately.

Betty began sewing at age 9, winning 2nd place in a Provincial competition. Her true joy as a teacher and judge is to encourage the development of excellent habits and techniques. She is well known for her beginner and appliqué classes. As founding member of 3 guilds, she has enjoyed many roles.
