At a time when we have been isolated from each other for far too long because of the coronavirus we look to friends to help us through, never forgetting the ties that bind and looking forward to a time when we will meet again, rejoicing in friendships old and new. It is around this sentiment that the 2021 Member Quilt Challenge theme, The Ties That Bind, was created.
Earlier this spring, CQA/ACC members voted in our beautiful new logo with its traditional maple leaf quilt block; its rich colours make a bold statement. What better way to celebrate its launch than to use the logo colours in a challenge? Join us!
There are six colours in total; use at least three of them on the front of your quilt. Play with modern or traditional design elements using solid colours only. The perimeter of your quilt is to be no larger than 96 inches.
Fabric Selection
The six Pantone colours used in our logo are 4230C, 2350C, 172C, 152C, 7549C and 2330C.
We found the corresponding colours in Kona Cotton: Pewter, Sienna, Pimento, Cedar, Sunny and White, respectively. No doubt you will find these colours in other solid collections as well, so please feel free to use the one that is the easiest to obtain; you may want to check Free Spirit, Painter’s Palette by Paintbrush Studio, Bella Solids by Moda, and Art Gallery Pure Elements, to name just a few.
Entries will be accepted via an online entry form which will be on our website from February 1 to May 21, 2021. The winning quilt will be selected by Viewers’ Choice during A Celebration of Quilting in Canada 2021 and awarded a $100 cash prize.
This challenge is open to all individual and professional CQA/ACC members so get your creative juices flowing and let us see what The Ties that Bind means to you.
