Happy Quilters (meetings in Gordon/Barrie Island Hall, near Gore Bay on Manitoulin Island) is a club based on the sharing of lessons by members for members. This became a challenge when we had to work with Zoom meetings, but we persevered by following the Sewcialites quilt blocks by Fat Quarter Shop. In 2022 though, we started meeting when it was allowed and had 2 projects going: Santa blocks for a tree skirt and a Variable Star quilt designed by member Lauren MacDonald. The Variable Star quilt was designed to accommodate a variety of sizes of star-themed quilt blocks that would be taught by members. Lauren presented one quadrant of the block which showed all the sizes of blocks and the sizes of the background fabric, then various members would teach a block to fit one part. Now in January 2023, we are about to present the last quarter of the quilt. The quilt top ends at 64″ x 72″ and borders will be discussed at the meetings. Some quilters are using light and some dark background fabrics.
