This is what our President just sent out to keep our large guild motivated. Results will be sent once some of the quilts are completed.

AN ISOLATION CHALLENGE!
What is it you are missing the most through this period of social isolation due to the Corona virus pandemic? I know it’s not toilet paper! As well as I am, plowing through my UFOs and adjusting to my husband “working from home”, what I really miss is MY FRIENDS! I would be surprised if you all didn’t agree with me on that one.

Marilyn Buhler has suggested we engage in a little Guild-wide challenge to distract ourselves from boredom and perhaps re-energize our motivation. Let’s do something that will result in a happy memory of this difficult time we’re all sharing together apart. Here’s the challenge :

The theme is THE VALUE OF FRIENDSHIP.
You will construct a quilt block using any design, a commercial pattern or invent your own. You will use any technique, string piecing, crazy quilting, paper piecing, appliqué that you just learned at the recent workshop! You may embellish to your heart’s desire, or keep it Amish-ly simple.

There are only these few rules :
1 – The THEME must be obvious; in the motif, the pattern name, the fabric, etc.
2 – The block must measure 10.5 inches SQUARE, raw edge to raw edge.
3 – You must SIGN your block somewhere on the front, by stitching, embroidering, or permanent fabric marker.
4 – You can only use fabric from your STASH, no breaking isolation to shop!

When we can gather again, the blocks will be collected. Every block contributed will get you an entry ballot. Names will be drawn, the blocks and other nice prizes will be offered. The winners who opt for the blocks will be able to make themselves a beautiful Friendship Quilt!

I love it!

I’m almost through my old projects, ready for something new and different. Ready to put my thinking cap on and get creative… the Value of Friendship. Let’s go!
