It has been a few months since I last reported on what we are doing here in Courtice. And, as usual, I am always so excited to share our news and let everyone know what is going on in our neck of the woods. So, here goes. After our summer break in July and August, we were all ready to reconvene in September when our Guild location was closed due to a COVID outbreak in the building. That takes us to our October Meeting, when we decided that it would be a great idea to take the meeting “On the Road”, it was a combination of a “Shop Hop” and a bit of “Retail Therapy combined, Just something a little different! I rented a 33 seater coach, booked visits to 3 very nice Quilt Stores to satisfy our quilting desires, and then booked a two hour visit to Bobcaygeon where our Quilters enjoyed the delights of the “Bigley’s Experience”, stopped for a lovely lunch, enjoyed the Locks and generally “chilled out”.
The whole experience exposed us to the beauty of the Fall Colors, the gorgeous farmlands and scenery of the Kawarthas, and all of our quilting needs were fed at the same time. Not to mention, the absolutely frivolous fun that took place on the bus! All in all, it was a great day.
Our November meeting was very busy, we had a visit from “The Scissor Man” who sharpened all of our quilting tools where needed, and it was “Demo Day” for Program. Two members of the Guild demonstrated “How t Make a Block Carrier“, and “How to make a Foam Tote bag using up your Scraps”, then we proceeded on to “Show & Share, where the variety of quilts shown were so stunning and inspirational . We are very blessed to have such an amazing group of ladies who produce some awesome quilts. Always such a pleasure to enjoy this part of the meeting. We also compiled our Donation items that were delivered to the Salvation Army for their Christmas Distribution to the needy. Our Donation table was absolutely loaded with the items our quilters had made and contributed to the cause.
December is our “Mix & Mingle” Meeting, the last one of the year and this year. We will serve Punch & Christmas cookies, vote on our “CQA Challenge”, share our Christmas quilted items during “Show & Tell, have a few raffles and the Program will be to make a “No Sew Norwegian Star”. All members will be supplied with a small kit and we will do this small project together in the true spirit of Christmas! Boy, do I just LOVE my Guild and my Quilting Sisters! If you are ever in the area, feel free to visit us in Courtice, we will welcome you with open arms. Merry Christmas everyone!
