Materials: Cotton batik, Tsukineko® ink and hand-dyed cotton fabric.
Techniques: Raw-edge appliqué, trapunto and domestic-machine quilting.
Artist’s Statement: There is something about the tree of life that is inspiring, grounding and calming to me. Without the sun (represented in the background), life would not exist. The sun was designed separately and transfered onto the fabric. The leaves were applied after the stitching was all done.
