Family Sanctuary
Entry #: M 2034
Entrant: Hanna Farquharson
Dimensions: 39" x 70" Wall Quilt

Techniques: Hand and machine piecing and domestic-machine quilting. Free-motion, code-piping.

Artist’s Statement: The quilt represents the actual size of the endangered Arctic wolf, which I love. The circular den is a sacred space, sanctuary, honouring and protecting family. Snow has pristine beauty, but speaks of harsh weather and challenges to survival. Fierce love unites family. The emblem carries the family initial and denotes four children.
