Entry #: AL 2023
Entrant: Sabrina Capune
Dimensions: 31" x 23"
Materials: Hand-dyed cotton, commercial cotton, silk and tulle, embroidery thread and fabric paints.
Techniques: Hand embroidery, machine piecing, machine and fused appliqué, domestic-machine quilting. Used the wrong side of some fabrics.
Artist’s Statement: I did a series on farmland, by season, based on many roadtrips from Calgary to Edmonton. This winter, early-evening scene captures a Chinook. An indigo, cloudy arch with a sunset peeking at the edge, cast interesting patterns on the farmland from the sudden, uneven snow melt.
