Early October we went to Louise Bulmers home for a trunk show. She had over 100 quilts, table centerpieces, purses, totes, wallets, doll clothes, & many other items she has sewn. While spending the winter in Arizona, she sews with a quilting group. They make complete outfits shoes to hats for 24 inch dolls & present them in their own carrying case to children in an orphanage.
October 17th, 14 members went on a field trip to MaMi’s Country Quilts at Duck Lake, SK. We had a scavenger hunt of the store, dinner & dessert, a van ride to the store & back to Tisdale all provided by MaMi’s. Glen Scrimshaw renowned artist visited us. We each received an autographed 2020 calender from him. They have an amazing array of fabrics. Very helpful staff. Also in October & November, Kathy Tanner showed us how she made a blue jean stained glass quilt. Louise demonstrated the table topper, she made. Eighteen or 20 charity quilt kits were cut & put in plastic bags. One sewing day we made Christmas stockings and 33 were presented to NEOS. We used some charity fabric & made cat & dog beds stuffed with scraps of cloth & batting. The beds also have a pillow slip that is removed & washed when an animal leaves the SPCA or vet clinic. Heather demonstrated Quilt As You Go Hexagon Block. She gave kits to all so we could make 2 blocks. Christmas potluck everyone brought a family favorite food. Then we played Quilters StripPoker using 2 1/2 strips cut WOF. Some members went home with more than the 20 they brought & others had less. On Tisdale Quilters facebook page you can view our show & tell.
