The Northern Lights Quilt Guild began in October 1997 and we had our 20th anniversary celebration at the Mill River Experience last fall. We meet on the first Monday of the month at the O’Leary Community Complex at 10 am. and have a sewing day on the third Monday of the month. We currently have over 30 members who are willing to share their quilting talents. New members are welcome. In 2002, Julia LeClair organized our first quilt retreat at the Tignish Heritage Inn which has become an annual event with only a location change. In January, our “Julia Retreat” is now held at the Marguerite Bourgeoys Centre in Summerside. During the year we have a number of workshops, a bus trip to Quilt shows and shops, a Christmas tea or pot luck for members, have a sewing day for a charity of our choice, make many tops for Victoria Quilts, etc. In October members received instructions for a fussy cut challenge. A number of members attended the Elaine Quehl workshop put on by Green Shore Quilters in St. Eleanors. We had a quilt display at the Eptec Centre in Summerside from October 9 to November 9, 2018. Come and Join us.
