The first guild meeting of the year was held virtually on Sept. 20,2021. We meet monthly from Sept. to June, with a break in July and August. The hope was that we would be able to hold our meetings in person this year, but because of protocols for Covid-19, and distancing requirements, we will continue meeting via zoom. Our first meeting hosted 92 members, so finding a venue to distance properly would be a monumental task! The program committee showed this years’ quiltalong quilt, and instructions for those wishing to participate will be sent via email after the first meeting. Our guild members are invited to participate in the Global Quilt Connection on Oct. 2 and 3. The GQC has shown to be very informative, and well-attended. Donation placemats and quilts are still being collected, and will be distributed to local persons in need. Sew days will continue virtually, with members joining via a zoom link. Due to the overwhelming success of last years’ sisterhood swap block, there will be another swap this year. It will be in the form of a postcard, with the theme of winter/Christmas. Paid members can join for free, with the exchange of postcards to be held in December. Our annual collection of childrens’ quilts and stuffed animals for Christmas distribution will be held in November in the church parking lot. Hope for good weather! We look forward to next spring, when we will celebrate the 40th anniversary of our guild. An outdoor park event is being planned. Our guild is very active, and will continue to host guest quilters virtually, with the hope that we can meet again in person, sooner than later!
