The Central Alberta Quilters Guild held a successful Quilt Show in Red Deer, Alberta, on April 6 & 7, 2018. A total total of 180 quilts were entered. Best in Show quilt “Sweet Journey” was awarded, by the Judges, to Annette Johnston of Red Deer. Viewers Choice was awarded to “Spirit Rose” by Kathleen Riggins of Camrose. Photos of all quilts entered and winners name are listed on our website www.centralalbertaquilters.org .
This year, a Guild Challenge was done to make a quilt inspired by the name of a song. A total of 21 beautiful quilts were entered and “Little Red Wagon” was chosen the winner. Some of the guild are busy completing blocks and quilts for the Humbolt Broncos tragedy, as well as making quilts for Charity. Our annual catered supper is held once a year in May and is always a wonderful evening. The programs committee has been busy and will entertain Gloria Loughman for two days of workshops and a trunk show in May. Sue Patten will be coming from Ontario in September for another two day workshop and trunk show.
Our guild has grown to 110 members and, as a result, we have moved to a larger location which will work well for the guild for years to come.
