Our Guild members were very busy in 2018. Though this information may seem a bit dated or overdue, I still want to convey the great achievements of our Guild in 2018 and in particular, to show the recipient of the CAQ Rosette for Viewer’s Choice award and to report other notable activities.
Our guild hosted its semi-annual quilt show June 22 & 23, 2018. The show was wonderful and well attended, greeting over 400 visitors. It raised $1812 for the Camrose Women’s Shelter, and delighted many attendees with door prizes as well as the winners of 2 small raffle quilts. Phyllis Arechuk won the Viewers’ Choice ribbon, see photo. The Guild presented a quilt challenge which some members participated in, having randomly drawn a song title from which to create a small wall hanging depicting the title. First prize for the challenge was won by Faith Gabert, see photo.
Since the quilt show, Guild members have been generously creating more ‘Comfort/Charity Quilts’ for a variety of well-deserving recipients. As well, the Guild has held 2 well-attended workshops: Quilting with Rulers by Dorothy Cornforth, and Scrappy Quilts with Cathy Tom. Guild meetings have been lively, especially since program coordinator, Faith Gabert, has presented several interesting projects for members to learn from. We continue creating, learning, and sharing.
