Our Quilters’ Guild now has close to 40 members and has been very active this year.
Our Show committee has started planning for our bi-annual quilt show which will take
place June 26 & 27, 2020. More information will be provided as we progress toward
the show date.
In March the guild held a retreat which was attended by 18 members and took place March
29, 30 & 31. It was a resounding success complete with great food, door prizes, and a sharing table that raised $300 and put towards comfort (charity) quilts.
A guild highlight has been that for several meetings our program coordinator has presented mini workshops called Quilting 101, which takes members back to quilting basics such as best practices for borders, bindings, set-in triangles, and sewing perfect ¼” seams.
Our guild recently donated a raffle quilt to the Louise Jensen Center in Camrose in order for them
to raise money to be used for their clients to bring good cheer into their lives on an ongoing basis. See photo below. The Louise Jensen Centre provides 24/7 residential care for people with complex medical needs, including assessing and treating health issues as well as helping with patient’s everyday activities.
On the second Monday of each month, several guild members get together along with their sewing machines to assemble charity quilts. Great for honing skills and creating a real sense of comradery among those members involved. See photo below.
