Materials: Cotton and cotton batik fabric, silk, wool roving, cotton and synthetic threads, as well as cotton quilt batting.

Techniques: Original image transferred to silk, collage, free-motion embroidery, machine piecing and domestic-machine quilting.

Artist’s Statement: I was inspired by the strength of the arborist, perched high in a tree, framed against sky. Working with layers and multiple views, I created a quilted collage portrait. She stands encircled by growth rings and rich webs of free-motion embroidery. Tree spirit, crowned with leaves.
