Materials: Hand-dyed cotton fabric, Inktense® pencil crayons and Neocolor® II wax pastels.
Techniques: Machine appliqué, fused, raw-edge appliqué, machine piecing, 3D construction and domestic-machine quilting.
Artist’s Statement: A Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, an athletic dog who runs with his owner and plays soccer. I created and thread-painted Blaze, separately on muslin, then batted behind his body and stitched to create muscles. He was placed on the finished background and secured for a 3D effect.
