Embellished bustier and tulle overlay skirt

Materials: Polyester brocade top, nylon tulle skirt and ribbon.

Techniques: Hand embroidery, free-motion embroidery, hand stitched herringbone, machine-embellished ribbon and thread sandwiched between layers of tulle.

Artist’s Statement: I was inspired by the Asian design on the brocade. I used loose threads, sandwiched between layers of tulle, to replicate the circles in the top. I used machine-decorative stitches to embellish ribbon, which was then used to lace the top and skirt waistband.
